It is clear that this series Wild China is not a travelogue or a ‘wish you were here programme’ it is a serious look at some little known and rarely photographed remote areas within this vast country. The first programme showed regions in the remote southern parts of China where many of the Chinese live in the same way as their families have done for centuries.
Many of the areas shown are inaccessible to most people ( particularly tourist ) and added to the difficult nature of the terrain it is rare to be able to see the wild animals shown in this brilliantly photographed first programme.
Areas that are accessible and where we do take clients to include Guilin and the Li River ( to see the cormorant fishermen ) but so much more than this – the Red Flute caves are a world famous tourist attraction and well worth a visit. The ½ day trip up the Li River is a particular favorite of many of our clients and if you have the time spend a day looking around Yangshou
Little was shown of the main tourist attraction in Yunnan Province but this it a very special region within China and well worth a visit.
The Yellow Mountain range is becoming more accessible but still retains a remoteness and quiet rarely found in China
We have found our Guizhou Ethnic Tour an excellent way to introduce our clients to the southern region of China and it 50 or so ethnic groups – For more go to China Holidays website. |
